An early Monday morning fire destroyed a home in lower Puna.

Eight units responded to a 3:41 a.m. alarm to a residence on Forest Road in Nanawale Estates subdivision, according to a written Fire Department statement. The first unit arrived at 3:53 a.m. to find the unpermitted one-story structure totally involved in flames.

The fire was reportedly under control at 4 a.m. and extinguished at 4:30 a.m.

The home was listed as a total loss, with damages estimated at $4,000.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is unknown.
